Latest Update on the two Gloucestershire team in the RFU competition
The proud rose of England and the proud home of English rugby!!

Given a chance of moving to the higher level in the RFU competition are the two teams from Gloucestershire – Matson and Old Cryptians teams who are 2 games away from Twickenham.

In each of the team’s Rugby Football Union (RFU) competitions, both have officially reached the South West Division Finals wherein it only takes one victory to advance in the national semifinals.

During the Junior Vase South West Counties finals, the Old Cryptians won against the Newquay Hornets at a winning record of 42 – 15. The other Gloucestershire team, the Matson, scored a 23 – 7 during the Intermediate Cup South West Counties Final against the Kingsbridge team.

Thomas Brind, a player of the Old Cryptians, scored 2 tries. First was just after a minute to open scoring then again 35 minutes later as his second score. Meanwhile, Joe Langbridge’s side came with 2 penalties and 2 conversions from Jake Hanley.

Through the first half, the Newquay team also scored two tries from when they were down to fourteen men, having 25 – 15 at the break. However, in the 2nd half, the Cryptians were harder to beat since the team players – Matt Hurdle, Dan Tyler, and Jake McMahon scored together with Hanley which adds one conversion.

On March 6th, the Gloucestershire One side needs to defeat Wadworth 6X Berks/ Bucks and the Oxon Championship leaders Chipping Norton with a background of 100 percent league record. And the Matson team will face against the Sherborne, identified as the top Southern Counties South having 16 out of 16 wins at the South West Division Final scheduled on the 16th of March.

If both teams would win in their respective games, then they would get a chance to play at Twickenham stadium, the largest dedicated rugby union in the world.
