A brand new gym, with an on-site parking, an advanced third-generation pitch for outdoor training, and newly-furnished changing rooms, will be opening soon at the newly renovated grounds of Newlands Park. Mr. James Forrester, former Rugby player of Gloucester, initially have no plans of opening a gym but was enticed to do so by the Cheltenham Tigers because of his background with the business in Singapore. The gym also caters training sessions, either individually or by group, and even exercise classes for the young ones.
He was still 17 years old when he first joined the Gloucester Colts from Oxford. He appeared in 144 games and even won the 2006 European Challenge Cup. His career was put to a halt due to his injury.
After retiring, he transferred to Singapore and started a career in business. His fitness gym called Ufit took a holistic approach like the rugby game. Mr. Forrester, now 38 years old, said that they consider all the elements in their client’s lifestyle. They also looked at their nourishment and their training. They have set up boot camps, massage therapies, physiotherapies, and even sports psychologists.
Only last year, the former player came back to Cheltenham with his wife and three kids because they love the place. The Huddle gym will be opening in early October. According to the ex-athlete, there will be three elements that will make The Huddle different from the rest of the gyms in Cheltenham. First, the coaching will be done by trained coaches who have worked with professional teams and athletes which includes Harry Cochrane, fitness expert and former scrumhalf of Hartpury College RFC. He further added that they will be doing science-based strength and conditioning. Finally, they want to open a community-based gym for all people from all walks of life.
