HOME CARE IN TORQUAY SHUTS DOWN DUE TO UPSURGE OF POSITIVE COVID-19 CASES

A convalescent home for the elderly people in Torquay was cordoned to visitors due to confirmed positive cases among the personnel and resident elderly occupants of the highly infectious coronavirus.

The Torbay Council and England’s Public Health department have verified and validated the positive cases of the virus which was diagnosed at the convalescent care home of the Hadleigh Court in Babbacombe located in Stanley Road. It has been attested and documented that 12 individuals were confirmed positive with the virus. The total number of people that were affected or exposed to the confirmed positive individuals was not yet determined.

The said care home has 27 bedrooms with 23 dynamic employees that accommodate male and female senior citizens who require 24-hour of proficient home care.

The diligent and engaged employees are constantly and strictly monitoring any denizen or anyone inside the home care who are exhibiting signs and symptoms. They also ensure that the individuals manifesting the cardinal signs of the coronavirus are immediately referred for prompt testing and meticulous clinical assessment.

A representative of the Hadleigh Court convalescent home expressed his disappointment after individuals were now tested positive for the coronavirus, after being free of the virus for seven months.

The spokesperson also declared that the care home and their staff are committed to doing their very best in containing the inevitable, contagious, and deadly virus. Right now, the priority of the care home is the safety of all the inhabitants and the unaltered delivery of quality and competent health care for them. He added that they are closely collaborating with the relevant and concerned public authorities in maintaining the safety of both the employees and the staff. The COVID-19 strict government health protocols are assiduously complied by the management and staff of the said care home.

The Torbay Council and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust have combined their diligent efforts in supporting both the proprietor and employees of the Hadleigh Court care home in ensuring the safe, quality, and competent delivery of health care for their residents. The organizations are also informing and updating the families of both the occupants and the staff about the health status of their affected family members.

The Deputy Director of Public Health England Southwest for Health and Protection, Mike Wade has reminded the public to follow strict COVID-19 protocol of social distancing, covering mouth and nose with a tissue paper, proper personal and meticulous regular hand hygiene is the best preventative measures in minimizing the rapid spread of the infectious coronavirus.

The Hadleigh Court convalescent care home is registered with the  Commission on Care Quality department which said that they were cognizant of the present health crisis and was maintaining continuous closed surveillance of the said facility.
