The A37 was closed from the junction of West Town Lane, between Dene Road and Saltwell Avenue following a serious accident involving a stationary vehicle and two other vehicles. The accident happened between Knowle and Whitchurch.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 23, according to traffic system Inrix, prompting local authorities to close down the major road.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed no casualties were recorded.
The road was reopened just before 9am.
“The closure is down to the fact that Western Power need to work on the repairs before it is safe for people to drive. We were called at 1.15am,” local police authorities said.
Telephone cables and power lines were down following the incident but partial access was maintained for local businesses and residents.
62 Western Power customers lost power after the crash but the number was reduced to under a dozen by 8.30am.
“One vehicle collided with a stationary vehicle and some power lines have come down. The closure is down to the fact that Western Power need to work on the repairs before it is safe for people to drive.” A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement.
According to traffic information provider, Inrix, some congestion and delays remained on the A4174 Wooton Park and A4 Eagle Road due to the “serious” incident several hours after the crash.
